I may use anime/manga related terms on this site as well as the occasional Japanese words and phrases. Here are some of the words and phrases that may need some explaination.
Anime/Manga Terms
bishounen (bishie) – a very good looking male.
chibi – superdeformed character. someone short in size and stature.
cosplay – dressing up in costume.
otaku – an obssesive fan of something, usually anime.
shoujo-ai – girl’s love. may contain lots of hugging, blushing, and possibly a kiss or two.
shounen-ai – boy’s love. may contain lots of hugging, blushing, and possibly a kiss or two.
yaoi – boy’s love comic or anime. a step above shounen-ai.
yuri – girls’s love comic or anime. a step above shoujo-ai.
Japanese Words/Phrases
(domo) arigatou – thank you
gomen (nasai) – i’m sorry
konban wa – good evening
kon’nichi wa – good afternoon
ohayou (gozaimasu) – good morning
sayonara – goodbye
